I support the aims of Bus Connects, with high frequency spines and increased orbital routes. However, significant amendments to the plan are required to address some of the gaps left in coverage such as those affecting Broadford, Llewellyn, Marlay Court and other areas south of Barton Road. The lack of direct access to St. Vincent’s Hospital which is a major oversight.
Allocating for cycling is a key issue for Greens. Following a series of fatalities in the area, this is an urgent issue. Chronic underinvestment has to be reversed, as cycling supports so many health and environmental goals. I will champion our new Commuter Charter.
I oppose the plans for Metro on the Luas Green Line, which promise to be enormously disruptive, and believe it should instead follow a different route via Terenure.
